To appease her, he then offers her Jasim as a gift, and Teman decides to stay with Bathasar for now—despite the abuse he may suffer.

The peace doesn’t last. Mukesh plans to invade Jasim's new country, and Bathasar must find a way to stop the destruction. But if he succeeds, he'll ascend to the throne and have the power to grant Teman his liberty. Then Teman will surely leave him. What other choice could a gypsy make?

Read this book!

Grace R. Duncan’s Choices is a fabulous novel – if you love a beautifully written story with gripping plot, well-developed characters, romance, erotic scenes, and just enough angst, you will find it hard to put this book down!

Here are some of the highlights of what is so wonderful about Choices:

Plot:
This book is a work of erotica. However, unlike in many erotic novels, there is a substantial amount of well-developed, fascinating plot to Choices – and not just about the trials that Bathasar and Teman face in their relationship. The fates of entire kingdoms, the well-being of civilians and nobles alike, are threatened by Mukesh’s instability, and Bathasar, Teman, and their friends are instrumental in working to maintain peace.

Characters:
We get to know Bathasar and Teman the best out of all the characters, given that it is their story. And how they develop throughout the novel, both individually and as a couple, is wonderful to read. The supporting cast is well-developed, and each person is unique and interesting. Several characters in particular (Cyrus, Nadir, Darius, and Salehi) have enough backstory that is hinted at, that they are worthy of their own novels. Some characters I loved to love (especially Bathasar, Teman, Cyrus, Nadir, Darius, Salehi, Jasim, Jielan, and Kaya), and one in particular I loved to hate (Mukesh, of course). Even minor characters with only a few appearances have enough to them that they don’t feel like cardboard cutouts.

Sex:
Let me just start with saying – this book is full of very, very hot scenes. And they’re beautifully written. But beyond that, the amount of diversity between the sex scenes in Choices is fantastic. Since Teman (and several of the other characters) are pleasure slaves, and have to undergo training and serve different masters at different points, there are fascinating distinctions between sex for pleasure (sometimes of just one party, sometimes of two or more parties) and sex for love. There are a few extremely brutal scenes – not designed to titillate, but for plot and character development – which Grace handled very well. Also, there is BDSM aplenty in Choices, and it’s quite clear that Grace knows quite well what she's talking about.

Emotion:
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride – and it was a delightful one. Depending on what was happening in the story, I whimpered nervously, I squeaked in delight, I giggled, and I actually cried at one point. The last of those does not happen frequently at all. I was so affected because of how much I was able to identify with the characters and their own emotions, which Grace has written so well.

Prose:
This book is masterfully written. Grace weaves words beautifully, in a style that is a joy to read. The dialogue is natural, and characters have their own voices. Her descriptions of the world of Choices are vivid, and it is clear that she put real effort into researching the time period and setting to make the novel all the more realistic.

I wholeheartedly recommend Choices, and look forward to Grace’s future projects.

After reading Choices, I can honestly say that purchasing it was a very good one -- choice, that is. It was very well-written with plenty of descriptive details. I found myself caring for the fleshed-out characters deeply, and not just the main ones, but the secondary characters as well. There is explicit sex (including BDSM elements) in this novel, and it is HOT and happens often (about every chapter). But, this erotica novel also has a plot as well. And by plot I don't mean some hastily thought up storyline that happens in three chapters. I mean a well-thought out, intriguing plot that spans the length of the entire novel. All in all, I enjoyed this novel immensely and may even re-read it (I almost never re-read anything). I will be looking for more by this author.

WOW!!! That is a lot of sex. I shudder to admit it was almost to much. I would give this book a Solid 3 and a half stars but I went with four stars because the ending made up for the redundancy of the sex scenes in the beginning.

For the first part of this book it is sex scene after sex scene with a bit of plot put in. In my opinion this book would have been 5 stars if the plot at least equaled the sex scenes. For lovers of MM romance in combination with BDSM this is the book for you. This is an historical book but the situations within make it a good read even if you are not into historical romances. This a fantasy book and the situations intended for that purpose and have nothing to do with true historical situations.

Teman and Jasim are Gypsy thieves for hire. They basically are good people who have convinced themselves they were steeling from the true thieves to return the objects back to their rightful owners; but, not all of their jobs are quite so right. They are set up and caught but we never learn why. They are taken to the palace and given the choice to go to the dungeon or to become palace pleasure slaves for the rest of their lives.

I loved the characters in this book Teman and Bathasar are the Heroes of this story but Jasim, Cyris, Nadir, Salhi, Jielan, and captain Darius were wonderful supporting characters and helped make this a very good book. Salhi is in charge of the slaves and recruits Cy and Nadir to train Ja and Te to become pleasure slaves. Cy, Nadir, Ja and Te become very close friends during this training. The training is very detailed and interesting. Even Mukesh is a very good bad guy whom I never liked but was necessary to the story

The Malik Mukesh is a very bad guy and a terrible father to both of his sons. Malik Mukesh takes an unhealthy liking to Teman and enjoys torturing him. In the mean time the Malik's eldest son Bathasar falls in love with Teman but has no way to protect Teman from his father's cruelty. Malik Mukesh is getting crueler and more and more insane with time.

Bathasar comes to the decision something needs to be done about his father but he needs help from the others. Bath and Teman's journey begins and the book really starts getting good after that. I don't want to give anything away but the ending is very good so do not give up on this book if the sex becomes to much skim but don't miss the conclusion.

NATIVE AMERICAN -- NEAT ROMANCE!

Prejudice always causes trouble!
Prosecuting attorney, Big Jim Frakes even practices it a little.
Ben Monongye, owner of a Construction company gets killed.
Paul Naminga, a Hopi paramedic, is accused and slated to stand trial if Big Jim has anything to say about it. There was blood splatters found on Paul's Koyemsi dance costume and a witness to a man wearing it entering the trailer used for cosutme changes when Ben was killed.
Big Jim asks his daughter, Kyra Martin to leave Kansas City, where she also works for the prosecuting attorney. Big Jim wants Krya to return to Flagstaff, Arizona for what will probably be his last big case before retiring.
Kyra Martin had left Flagstaff to finish her schooling and a year after leaving married Brad Martin on the rebound [seems very immature] when David Yazzie walked away from her.
David Yazzie, the son of a widowed, mostly Navajo mother and a father of mixed Navajo, Anglo and Hispanic background had come a long way from impoverished beginnings thanks to the Army G.I. Bill then borrowed his way into law school. He worked a short time for Big Jim. Untill he showed too much interest in Kyra.
Now, David, at 36 years old has reasons to regret listening to Big Jim, who convinced him, 5 years ago, to walk away from Kyra. He, who balked at marriage when she'd been so eager to wear his wedding ring, had built her a house. Would he ever be able to show it to her??
Find out what happens when Kyra goes to see David's grandmother, Mary Many Horses and she meets up with David's great-grandfather.
I love this twist to the story. Does she or doesn't she?
I would probably have rated this a 5 if the characters had been a bit stronger - I have a hard time relating to marriages on the rebound [another human fraility]people who know there is a problem and won't do something about it. Ah well, it is a very good story and well worth reading. I do recommend this one.

About the Author
Gerald Ackerman was born in California. He completed his studies at the University of California at Berkeley, then at the University of Munich and finally at Princeton, where he received his PhD. For twenty years, he was a professor of art history at Pomona College in California. He is a specialist of Gerome and published studies on other 19th century American and European artists, as well as on the theory of academic art.

An awesome find

The book is 25 x 27cm in size.
The writer Gerald Ackerman is an art historian who went to Florence to study how to use this course at the atelier of Daniel Graves and Charles Cecil before writing this book.
You can find all the Charles Bargue 197 plates in this book, with instructions on how to use them.
Vol 1 plates are all whole-page drawings.
Vol 2 plates are over 80% whole-page drawings.
Vol 3 has only about 20 full-page illustrations and the rest are pretty tiny. Despite this shortfall, I still consider it a great book to have.
The book also talks about Charles Bargue's life and his awesome paintings (in his later years).
It is interesting to know that van Gogh worked through this course more than once on his own and Picasso copied these plates at the Barcelona Academy.
This is one of the few drawing books that I find truly worth my money.

Excellent resource for learning atelier drawing methods. In addition to the book, however, you will also require some additional course instruction and there are excellent free resources on line. The Bargue Drawing Companion from the www.AcademyofRealist Art.com shop online offers a video demonstration for $100 and The Davinci Initiative offers free lesson plans that are very informative. http://www.davinciinitiative.org/free-lesson-plans.html And, I would also recommend Mandy Hallenius's series of YouTube videos very helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICs4gpyQikY

About the Author
Martin Esslin was born in Budapest and educated in Austria. He read Philosophy and English at Vienna University and graduated as a producer from the Reinhardt Seminar, the well-known dramatic academy. He left Austria in 1938 and in 1940 began working for the BBC as a producer, scriptwriter, and broadcaster. In 1963 he became Head of Radio Drama at the BBC, a position he held until his retirement in 1977. At his death in 2002 at the age of 83 he was Emeritus Professor of Drama at Stanford University.

If you have ever wished for one book to neatly package absurdist theatre, Mr. Esslin's book is the one. This book is readable, comprehendable, entertaining and engaging. In fact, it's rather difficult to put down. His introduction does wonders to dispel any myths as to what absurdist theatre is and isn't. He follows the introduction by individually highlighting those playwrights often associated with the absurd (Beckett, Adamov, Ionesco, Genet, and Pinter). Of interest is the fact that he does not overwhelm or bore the reader by providing an excess of information. On the contrary, each section is unbelievably tight. His section on Adamov is much appreciated, considering that finding anything on him is near impossible. He then continues with his "Parallels and Proselytes" in which he touches on "lesser-known" playwrights (Albee, Arrabal, and others). He follows this section with three more equally fascinating chapters. In short, Mr. Esslin packs a breadth of relevant information into 480 pages. "The Theatre of the Absurd" should find a welcome home on the bookshelves of actors, directors, dramaturgs, playwrights, or those with an interest in theatre. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

A classic on the history of theatre and thought

I came to read this book for a paper I decided to write on Samuel Beckett, for my Theory of History course. A friend who's an actress recommended it for me, and it was an amazing discovery. From an historian's point of view, this book is a rich, challenging and informative approach to one of the most important aspects of the ideology crisis from the beginning of the XXth. Century. As I came to know later, it's a classic on the theatre field as well.
Apart from Beckett and some minor authors, there are chapters on Adamov, Ionescu, Genet and Pinter, and a superb essay on the meaning of the concept of "absurd" of human existence. A must read for anyone who wishes to understand not only the art, but the ideas which shaped the latest century.

Esslin outlines important facts about this complicated and confusing theatrical movement. He helps provide a basic understanding for anyone who would like to know about Beckett, Ionesco, Adamov, Genet, and Pinter. Absurdism is probably the least understood of all modern theatrical movements of the twentieth century, but Esslin makes it accessible. If you study, teach, design,or perform in the theatre you need to read this book, it is the authoritative text on absurdist theatre.

It will make you think...

This is not for the happy go lucky requirements gatherer. It is a detailed breakdown of everything requirements engineering for software intensive systems. It will make you think.

The book describes the KAOS method in detail and the author uses Objectiver as the modeling tool. Sometimes a book is not worth buying when you are not using the tool. That is not the case with this book. It is packed with valuable advice and examples.

Reading the book did prompt me to download Objectiver. Very cool tool, but it is also complex. Complex is not a bad thing when you consider this book is about an engineering discipline, and engineering is needed because you are trying to do something complex.

The author covers the fundamentals of Requirements Engineering in detail in the first part of the book, Building System Models for Requirements Engineering in part two, and then Reasoning About System Models in part three.

This book does exactly what the title says, it shows you how to go from System Goals to UML Models to Software Specifications.

If you are building complex systems, this book is definitely for you.

I highly recommend this book, and have nothing negative to say about.

Graduate level book on requirements

Excellent book on requirements; however, the book is at graduate level this is not a book you can actually read it and take to industry right away. You need to do some planning before you can apply some of the techniques.

In some cases the book is very abstract and it needs more down to earth examples and more explanation on some of the techniques. The diagrams in the book are very very abstract and not correctly explained. Some of the diagrams are missing more explanation to understand what the author is trying to educate.

Overall this is a good book in fact I encourage readers to buy it if they are very serious about learning how to apply engineering to requirements.

Thorough and comprehensive

Axel van Lamsweerde has produced a hefty, thorough and comprehensive analysis of the translation of pure requirements into software requirements. In van Lamsweerde's own words:

...a presentation of various forms of reasoning about system models
I haven't read the entire book yet, but the first part is proving to be excellent. The book is not easy reading - 682 pages on a complex subject. van Lamsweerde uses a goal-oriented approach to RE but this focus is only really elaborated on in the second half of the book. The wealth of knowledge contained in this book makes it a most worthwhile purchase.

Stay in the relationship

I purchased this book for my grandkids because several were experiencing relationship troubles. I felt it was because, as girls, they believed they had to "love" the guy enough and part of that was excepting abuse to "show their love." Teaching my girls to learn to respect their own rights is so very important because I wasn't taught that when I grew up. This book gets the job done. They may not get all the Respect Me Rules down right away, but it will plant a seed and I pray that they learn it is not OK for their dates to mistreat them. I recommend it for anyone trying to help another learn respect and the best part is, they encourage couples to stay together--not get out, like other books do about this topic.

Finally a book on abusive relationships that can be used by everyone.

As a behavioral health clinician for the past 30 years, clients that were in abusive relationships seemed to never run out of reasons they stayed with the abuser. While I was able to provide emotional support and a few good ideas, I wish I had had a copy of "Respect me Rules" by Michael and Shelly Marshall to keep me on track.

This 160 page book is an excellent tool for the clinician or someone suffering the various forms of abuse that can be dished out by a partner. Too often I was caught up with trying to understand why a person stayed when I should have been more focused on ways to curtail the ongoing abuse. The "Respect me Rules" offer good practical advice a person can use to shape up a partner's behaviors. I will be using the book as a guide I can follow in therapy sessions and sharing it as a workbook with clients.

I would offer this word of caution for a person who wants to start using the book on their own. The relationship usually gets worse before it gets better, as the authors point out, when the partner escalates their abusive behaviors as a way to try and maintain control. If you are not working with a therapist, it would be best if you arranged a regular check in routine with a trusted friend, a member of the clergy or a member of your extended family to assure them you are ok.

It's all logical things, but unfortunately as a target of an abuser, you are not in a logical frame of mind. This book is full of affirmations and truths that are good to contemplate on. It has some good advice and lots of reminders even if you already know what the abuse cycle is about and you're on the road to healing. Many things are repetitious if you've read on the subject, but it is still worth the cost of the book.

Wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world where respect was the norm. We don't. For many understanding, expecting, or demanding respect is a difficult concept -- that's where this book comes in. Knowledge is power -- your power -- your control of yourself!
