In her first-ever singing performance in front of an audience, Little D brings the house down! And she discovers, with her grandfather’s encouragement (If you think it, you can do it!”), that everyone has a special talent and it’s up to each person to find it, embrace it, perfect it, and enjoy it!
The book includes audio CD featuring an exclusive recording of the gospel song Jesus Loves Me” (the first song young Dionne performed before an audience, as told in the book), as well as a reading of the book by Ms. Warwick.

From Publishers Weekly
The title is borrowed from one of Warwick's timeless collaborations with Burt Bacharach and Hal David, but her book is a flat, pedestrian self-esteem primer. Little D lives in a multicultural neighborhood and walks the straight and narrow path. She loves school (math the most), never eats treats from her father's candy store til after three and is happy to be myself. So strong is Little D's character that when her big moments arrive—solos of Jesus Loves Me in her church and during a Kids' Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater—it's anticlimactic: she says a little prayer and then brings down the house. Brazilian illustrator Soud can't seem to get the proportions of his characters right (the children's heads in particular seem frighteningly oversize). But he's very good at evoking the feel of a packed public space—his scenes in Little D's church and the Apollo give the book its few moments of drama. The accompanying CD has Warwick reading the text and performing the gospel song. All ages. (Sept.)

From School Library Journal
Kindergarten-Grade 2—Young Dionne Warwick—Little D—is presented as an ordinary girl wandering through her neighborhood, enjoying school and games with friends, and dreaming about her future. When her preacher grandfather asks her to sing in church one Sunday, Little D realizes that her voice is her God-given talent and that her life should be "giving herself to song." There seems to be some attempt at a rhyme scheme in the first half of the book, but the result is awkward doggerel: "Plus, I have a treasure chest of pranks,/for hiding one of my brother's toys/or/my sister's left shoe/or/dressing our bow-wow/Sonny Boy/in my fabulicious tutu." Halfway through, any attempt at rhyme seems to have been abandoned, and what remains is equally awkward prose. Soud's illustrations are bright and sunny and feature a multigenerational, multiethnic cast of characters, but they can't compensate for the flawed text. On the accompanying CD, Warwick reads the book and sings "Jesus Loves Me," which she sang in church at her grandfather's request.—Grace Oliff, Ann Blanche Smith School, Hillsdale, NJ

Gift for My Niece
By Ivy Johnson
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my 2 year old niece, to whom I read to almost every night. I heard Dionne Warwick speaking about her book on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and decided to check it out on Amazon. The story is very positive for young childern and easy to read for beginners. I am sure my niece will enjoy hearing it for years to come and the CD is just an extra bonus for her to enjoy.Say a Little Prayer

Good for all ages
By Deona
I bought this for my sister. She read it to her husband, who could no longer read, but he was able to follow along. Using the CD, he could also read along by himself, which he did often. A very cute story, made for the young at heart.

Wonderful drawings and a nice message.
By Andy McKinney
This is roughly a story about Little D, D as in Dionne Warwick, a small girl who discovers that she has the talent to sing and make people happy to hear her. It is simple and undemanding for the reader but at the same time has a good message about the wise use of our talents. Little D grows up around faithful Christians in her family and her church and she carries that faith with her.
But the drawings by Brazilian artist Soud make the book for me. His use of bright, vivid colors brings a bit of the tropics to those of us in the mid-latitudes. Our eyes are delighted.
The book comes with a CD included with two recordings by Dionne Warwick herself which is a nice bonus.
