About the Author
Michael Austin (Ph.D., University of California at Santa Barbara) is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Newman University. He was previously Dean of Graduate Studies at Shepherd University, where he taught composition, world literature, and British literature. In addition to Reading the World, he is the author of A Voice in the Wilderness: Conversations with Terry Tempest Williams.

Extremely biased to the left

Extremely left leaning selections. If you are looking for something that has almost every essay highly skewed to the left, then you need to look no further. The book has selections from Al Gore in the environment section. Really? No counterbalance from anyone on the right or even at least credible? The intros are pretty weakly written. Very little proof other than the editor's opinion. I purchased it as a requirement for a class. Turns out the professor is an extreme left wing nut too, surprise surprise
